Firstly, if you don’t know me already, I’ve been in the game for nearly a decade. I’m a producer and engineer who's worked on projects with some of the biggest composers in India, records featuring Grammy-winning and nominated artists such as Jordan Rudess, Michael League, Shankar Mahadevan, and more, and commercials for major brands like Sony and Myntra. I own an audio post-production suite called ARA, based in Chennai, just like me.
That’s me.
See, I learned my craft through formal education for music production and engineering in college, so I know what that's like. And I've been surrounded by people who learned the same way. Over time, we've all realized that the best knowledge came from what we taught ourselves by simply sitting and spending countless hours with the DAW, tweaking and exploring endlessly. There are many things that formal education simply doesn’t teach or aren’t taught in a way that’s best understood, making it hard to internalize what's being taught and even harder to leave the mindset for constant exploration and innovation.
Now, as an artist, I understand how to teach certain things in a way that truly resonates. This is something any other teacher might not be familiar with, and we can't really blame them for it. And that is what gives me an edge.
And boy, do I love teaching! My passion for teaching began with simply explaining a concept to a friend or a junior. Seeing how my words are understood in real time just fills my heart with joy.
